What started as a very ambitious Gala games studio focused on developing P2E (play 2 earn) blockchain games back in 2020. has now evolved into a Gala ecosystem encompassing Gala games, Gala film, Gala music, and Gala mobile divisions. GALA Layer 1 blockchain has also been developed and will be released to the public later this year.
This is in my opinion, one of the most ambitious Web 3 and blockchain projects so far, focusing on user experience while empowering gamers, users, and creators.
At the moment they offer 2 fully playable P2E games with many more to come and have just acquired a mobile games studio with millions of users and dozens of games ready to be onboarded on the GALA blockchain.
Fully playable games at the moment are:
- Spider Tank: Spider Tank is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that allows players to duke it out on a variety of maps using their spider tanks and various armaments.
- Town Star: A town-building and development game that allows players from all over the world to compete to earn NFTs.
They have also signed some interesting partnerships with celebrities such as Snoop Dog, Death Row Records, and DJ BT under their Gala Music brand.
Gala Film is set to produce movies, cartoons, shows, and documentaries under its umbrella.
GALA Marketplace
Gala Store aka GALA Marketplace is a place where you can buy NFT’s for each game in development by GALA Games. They accept the native token GALA and for specific games, you can use game-specific tokens. For example, to buy certain rare items for Mirandus, you will have to use MATERNIUM which will be one of the currencies you will earn playing Mirandus. To upgrade your tanks and buy accessories in Spider Tanks, you will have to use SILK which is awarded by playing Spider Tanks.
Massive Community
Unlike most play-to-earn games, which typically have a player base that numbers in the tens to hundreds of thousands, Gala Games as of January 2021 has a staggering 1.3+ million active users. As a result, games launched through the platform are likely to become among the most popular P2E games in the blockchain space right off the bat.
GALA Games future
Gala Games has recently released a detailed outline and roadmap of its plans for 2023. Their plans include increasing focus on mobile games, the full release and expansion of the Gala blockchain, and game tokenomics.
As part of their move forward, Gala Games has promised more transparency, including roadmaps for all of their projects. But, to kick things off, they released a presentation laying out their primary goals and philosophies for 2023. You can read the full release here, but we’ll sum up the big points here.
